Pre-operative risk assessment
Surgical procedures can be quite stressful on the body and mind. They require the heart to be in a healthy, functioning state. At Briarwood Medical Practice, we will go through a number of tests with you to accurately assess your cardiovascular health.
Cholesterol Management
Those with high cholesterol, are at much higher risk of heart attack, stroke and other cardiovascular issues. Stress Testing
When you want to see how your heart performs when it is under duress, the most common test is the exercise stress test. Also, known as an exercise electrocardiogram, treadmill test, graded exercise test, or stress EKG, this lets us know how your heart responds when it is pushed.
Holter Monitoring
A Holter monitor is a small, wearable device that keeps track of your heart rhythm. It continuously records your heart’s rhythms and the electrical activity of your heart. At Briarwood Medical Practice, we may have a patient wear a Holter monitor if other tests we’ve run haven’t been definitive. It gives us a longer time span of heart activity, as we’ll usually have patients wear their Holter monitor for several days.
Vascular Imaging
At Briarwood Medical Practice, our skilled medical team offers convenient, on-site vascular ultrasounds. This fast, painless diagnostic procedure offers insight into how your blood is flowing and can identify potential issues, like blood clots, that can affect your health.
